Revisiting GMITE blog.............

Hi All,
Hope you all are doing great!
After my batch (2007 batch) of GMITE, 2008 GMITE batch also will be graduating soon. So the selection for the next batch will be starting soon. As i heard last time the selection ratio were 1:8(Sources). Hence assuming this time aswell the applicants will have similar or more competetion for GMITE 2009 admission comparing to last year.

I get lots of email enquiring about GMITE and how it can add value to a 5/8/10/12 years of experience person.  And what is the reputation of this course in the market? Does the companies recognizes the course. Wheather they can get better job after the course? Does this made any difference to their professional life? etc....  Sometime I end of saying i might have to do a market research to know what is the market reputation or does the HRs of the companies know about this executive MBA course running in IIM Bangalore.  Some time i tell them i really dont know(cos i really dont know)..But i know quite a few guys from my batch, they are all doing good job. few of them in new companies and/or new roles.. Sometime i get irritate when someone asks about placement in executive courses in IIMB. I usually recommend these guys....  If you are very much interested in getting good placements then go for a full time MBA course in IIMs or ISB. After which  you might get placed in a good position/High paying Salary/Great company.
However if you are looking for a course which will let you earn while you study your management course, then this is a great course for you.

I remember during recent alumni meet, one prof also told me that the better are the executives MBA students because they come with experiences, so they have seen the world. They do well in professional life after completing executive mba programs from IIMB. Also another prof told that the exec. MBA Alumnus are more active in organising meeting/seminars/talks etc.. than fulltime MBA alumnus (because most of them will not be in Bangalore or in india).

Anyways if you are in Bangalore and in IT field and would like to expand your management skills and knowledge i could not suggest any better course than GMITE.... Rest, you have to take a final call on wheather you want to join or not..

Take care and have fun....

Life after joining GMITE@IIMB

For last 10 months, Since after joining GMITE@IIMB my weekdays actually started from Thursday.I check back and see what are the classes are there and what i need to prepare on those.some time the cases were given which are not less than a hundreds pages, need to prepare for the class. Hence if i havent studied for the whole monday to wednesday, i need to compensate study hours for the other 3 days(Monday, Tuesday, Thursday) on thursday. So its the never ending studies you need to do.
Either we need to Prepare cases or read the chapters or do the assignment before attending classes. Hence its usually take me not to sleep earlier then 3 O clock. I usually take a good nap (Not SLEEP) untill 6 AM. I know a lot of my classmate compaining they dont sleep in thursday night. Or getting p earlier than the other weekdays. But what to do, if you have joined management in IIM, you need to work little more than what you used to do. Make a difference..HAHA..
I usually pick up my friend "Sumant" on the way in Jaya Nagar. So this friday Morning also i called and reached at his home. I was on the way and i was discussing on my presentation i need to make on the Strategy for a FMCG company and will present its Aquisition of another large FMCG company. We reached IIMB, but our discussion does not reach to an end.I saw my mobile, it was 7.15 (I dont wear a watch). So we went straight to Cafeteria to have breakfast. We met several classmate, we discussed on the last week's office. Which prof will be taking which session's left, what are the electives people are taking, who is doing which project and so on......(It never ends) ........

After having breakfast, i had my first morning tea.. That's the unique oppurtinity to meet all classmates of GMITE in one place..
Oh my God!! Its 7.45.. Arun told me. The prof is already in the class. Lets go.. I rush to the class. The prof was already there, and class was about to began.
This class was on the marketing of Technology Product. The prof is very good narrater, and he made us realize and feel that the marketing of soap and technology products are not the same. How difficult it to manage, however his real time exp tips were too good. We had break for tea in between the session. Had my tea.. I dont miss a tea/coffee if its s break.. That keeps me awake ;). The same prof continues and completed the session by 11.00.

Again i got a break, so need less to say i need a cup of coffee.. However i was just making my self confident as i had to present the class on the case along with Nivedita. So she started with the benefits and for of the Aqusition of the Big FMCG company by other MNC. And i went to present against the aqusition, I heard it was good after the presentation (My classmates always says its good..) But to be honest in knew i could have done much better. I wish i could have done entire week.. but i made in a day.

Anyways when we all finished, we got another break.. We discussed on the future steps, who were inteerested in which career path, or which career is best.. so on.If you see we dont waste a minute, we discussed a lot from personal to professsional everything in breaks..(Hence breaks are good: i just derived)...

After breaks we had brain stroming sessions on the Aqusition and merger. Prof made us to think like sky is the limit( That's the word he uses often). I saw few guys left for office, they might have something important in office. After finishing class, we rushed to cafe for lunch..and again discussion and chatting started..As i told you,we dont miss any breaks or free time without chatting.I have often seen guys are eating fast as they have to rush office as soon as possible. After saying good bye to everyone i also rushed for office.. Same office, but different day(Friday). Friday i come to office late and work late night. Hence this way i manage work and study.. Life is so easy..What you say??

First Day of GMITE@IIMB!!

Lots of Guys have requested to share my experiences of GMITE @ IIMB.
I am starting with the First day @ IIMB, This topic i just wanted to tell you my personal experience.

Here we go...

This was the day, Jan 22nd 2007 Morning 8.30. It was cloudy day, sun rays started coming. But it’s still not bright. It was yet another typical Bangalore day. I was ready and reported to the registration counter in the MDC at IIM, Bangalore. The GMITE class will be starting in few minutes, informed by one of the IIMB office staff.
I finished the registration and went to the Auditorium. The class was almost packed with other 74 students (Counted except me, as the class strength is 75). We were welcomed by Program Director, Prof. Raghu Nath and Prof. S. Krisna, and welcome speech by Executive Program Officer, IIMB. He informed that we will be spending next 1 year at IIM, Bangalore (Which we already knew ;)). We need to come early at 7 AM for classes, as he doesn’t want us to be late for the class. We can have breakfast and lunch here in MDC, IIMB campus.

After that we started self introduction by all of us i.e. All 75 Students one by one. I was trying to figure out who is from the company I belongs to. But you know weather its my luck or no luck no one was from my company. Then a class photograph of GMITE2007 Batch...( I guess)This will be kind memorable photograph for all of us, to rememeber the 1 year we spent in IIMB in future...
What a nice start. Isn’t It.!!!

The first day session was taken by Raja Natesan, IIMB visiting Faculty and President and CEO, ITQ and Galileo India. It was based on understanding self and self improvement and leadership development. It was wonderful to see Raja talking and preaching on the
NLP (Neuro Linguistic programming). After the first break I met my old friend Sumant, I met him after 12 years in IIMB. Actually we were in same school in Rourkela, Orissa during our 11th and 12th. It was purely incidental. Again I thought what a great start.!! What you say??

I will write more on my experiences of GMITE@IIMB ...keep following this blog.. Cheers
